Pika’s Festival

A whole week of children’s and family experiences

Velenje, where the first Pika Day was held in 1990, is now famous for hosting the largest kids’ festival in Slovenia. Every September, Pikas (Pippi Longstockings) of all ages and their friends rule the city. The central stage for the annual Pika’s Festival, with concerts, plays, animations, creative workshops and other new experiences, has been held at Velenje Lake every year, but for its 30th anniversary, the festival will be held in the city centre.

The festival has a special topic every year; this year, 2019, it’s Pika All Around the Town. The city’s squares and streets will stage Slovenian and foreign circus and acrobatic street performances; locations are marked on Pika’s Map, the main festival info point in the Red Hall.

The creative workshops, exploration workshops, motoric and sensor polygons and interactive spots are excellent choices for family meetings, as well as organised visits by kindergarten and school groups.
